I'm using a MAC and cannot play the puzzles
Older MACs (before mac started using Intel CPUs) only work correctly with Flash
9 or older. They do not work correctly for Flash 10 or newer. Flash is required to play many of the
puzzles and you need to have the correct version installed for the games to function
properly. If you have an older Macintosh and have upgraded to the Flash 10 or newer you
will need to install Flash 9 for the games to work.
For details on how to remove Flash 10 from an older Macintosh
and install a version of Flash compatible with your system please follow the
instructions found here.

Every
time I try to play the game I get a message that it can't connect to the
server.
There are several reasons why you might be having this
problem. First, our server may be momentarily too busy to accept new connections.
Also, when you click on the game play icon, be sure you only click once.
There is sometimes a short delay in making the connection with the server
and clicking repeatedly will confuse the server and cause an error message.
Just wait a minute and then try again. You might want to go back to the
home page, select reload on your browser menu bar to be sure you have
the most recent page loaded, and then select the game page and try again.
Check your browser security. In Internet Explorer we recommend
using the default settings and a medium security setting. A higher setting
may prevent connection to our server. In Netscape review your security
and use Netscape's help for more information. You might also want to check
with your ISP. If your ISP has internet filtering programs installed,
you may also have difficulty connecting. Also check to make sure that
you have Java and JavaScript enabled. Also make sure that if you have a firewall program installed on your system,
you disable it before trying to play any of the games. If
you have a firewall, please see our FAQ regarding firewall settings.
Are you using a pop-up ad stopper program of some sort?
If so, this could be causing your problem. Check to see if your program
has an override option ... usually a specific key such as the Shift or
Ctrl key ... if so, hold down the override key when you select the Play
option or access a page that isn't loading properly.
If you don't have an override option or it doesn't work
for you, the best thing to do is to disable the program before going to
Boxerjam and then enabling it again after you've finished playing.
We do have one pop-under ad at our site and our games open
is separate windows. Many of the pop-up stopper type programs can't make
the distinction between the game and an ad.
If you continue to have a problem, you might want to empty
your browser cache if you're using Netscape or delete Temporary Internet
Files if you're using MS Internet Explorer and try again.
Net lag can also cause difficulty in connecting. If the
problem is caused by net lag, you might want to try logging off your ISP
and then logging back on again to see if you can get a better connection.

I keep receiving the error message
"No Boxr File Specified".
When you select the Play option, our server checks that
you have your game files installed and that they're the most recent ones
and downloads any patches that our techs may have put up. It shouldn't
take more than a few seconds, but net lag can slow the process down some.
During this time, if you select any one of the click here options on the
"Please Wait" page, and then immediately click on the Play button
again, you will see that message. It resulted because you aborted the
install and connection process.
If you get the message, first return to the Boxerjam games
or homepage and then select Out of Order again. If you continue to get
the message, there are several things you can try. First, clear your
cache files.
Most Internet browsers save every site that you visit
in a cache folder so that the next time you visit the site it will load
much faster. And it sure is a great feature since it makes websurfing
much easier. The big drawback is that if a site is changed, you don't
know it because you've loaded the saved page from your cache not from
the actual site.
When things don't see to be working right at a website,
select that refresh/reload option to make sure you are seeing the newest
page. The best way to force your browser to load the newest pages is
to hold down the "Ctrl" key and then hit the refresh/reload
option.
Also, emptying the cache file periodically will get rid
of old pages so that if you return to a site, the newest page will load.
To empty your cache files:
- Go to a page other than boxerjam.com (home page will
do).
- Tools -> Internet Options -> Temporary Internet
Files ->Delete Files
- Clear History Files -> Apply -> OK
- CLOSE ALL BROWSER WINDOWS (AND AOL)
- Start IE (AOL) again and come back to the site.
If you continue to get this message, submit a Problem Report by selecting the
Contact Tech Support on the Boxerjam Help page.

I'm behind
a firewall at work. Can I still play the games?
A firewall is a protocol within a network of computers
(or even on an individual system) to limit access to only files and sites
allowed by a system administrator. When you play most of our games, you
are constantly in touch with our game server and a firewall can prevent
or interfere with this.
If you have a personal firewall, you can set your firewall
to accept traffic from Boxerjam.
Boxerjam's server IP range: 65.196.122.1-255
The games use ports: 5190, 5040, 5050
The website uses ports: 80 & 443
Even if you set your firewall to accept Boxerjam traffic,
the program still checks all the data being sent or received. This can
slow down the game so much that the server thinks you've stopped playing
and may disconnect you from the game. Each time you respond, it's sent
to our game server, compared to the response of the other players and
then the scores and player rankings are sent back to your computer.
If you continue to have difficulty connecting, the game
runs slowly, or you experience disconnects, the best thing to do is to
disable your firewall before visiting Boxerjam and then enable it again
when you've finished playing the games.
I can
connect to the game but then I get disconnected while I'm playing.
What you're experiencing is probably caused by net lag
especially if you're trying to play during heavy net traffic times. If
the server doesn't receive data from you within a given period of time,
it assumes you've disconnected and no longer sends you information. This
can result in some unusual problems and error messages.
You might want to try disconnecting from your Internet Service Provider,
rebooting, and then logging on again. This might improve your connection.
I keep
getting a "No route to host (Winsock 10065)" error message.
Keep trying to connect after a few minutes have passed.
You may also get this error message if you're behind a firewall. . Please refer to the FAQ … I'm behind a firewall at work. Can I still play the games?
I'm getting
a "Connection Reset by Peer (Winsock 10054)" error message.
Can a player disconnect me from the game?
In this case, peer means computer not another player.
This is usually caused by net lag especially if you're trying to play
during heavy net traffic times. The game seems to run slowly because the
transfer of data between you and the server is slowed down by this lag.
If the server doesn't receive data from you within a given period of time,
it assumes you've disconnected and no longer sends you information. This
can result in some unusual error messages.
You might want to try, if you can, to play at a less busy time. You might
also want to try disconnecting from your Internet Service Provider, rebooting,
and then logging on again. This might improve your connection.
I get
a "Connection Timed Out" error.
Keep trying to connect after a few minutes. This message
means that the connections between your machine and ours are running slowly
for some reason, and may be due to general Internet congestion. Usually
this will clear up after a few minutes. If this happens to you a lot,
try playing at a different time of day, when the Net is less busy. You
may also be behind a corporate firewall.

The troubleshooter
doesn't recognize my information.
It's possible that you have activated some sort of security
protocol that is blocking the troubleshooter from checking your system.
This could also be causing you problems connecting to the game.
If the you wish to remedy this situation, the security protocol must be
removed. It is either caused by a security or virus program that you're
running. You'll need to check the settings to determine what may be causing
this block.
Check your browser security settings. Also check any virus detection program
that you're running to make sure that it's not blocking Java or Java scripting.

I'm on
AOL and I'm having download problems.
There are certain settings in AOL that you'll need to
check to make sure that you have AOL set properly to access Boxerjam's
games on the Internet.
Make sure that you have cookies and Java enabled. The steps to allow cookies
in AOL are as follows:
1. Click on the MY AOL icon.
2. Select Preferences from the drop down menu.
3. Click on the WWW icon.
4. Click on the Security tab.
5. Click on the Custom Level button.
6. Scroll down through the various items to make sure all of the following
are enabled:
Cookies: Allow cookies that are stored on your computer
Java : Java Permissions - just make sure Disable Java is not selected.
Scripting:
Active Scripting
Scripting of Java Applets
7. Click on Apply, then OK.
If you are using AOL 8.0 go to Settings, Internet Properties
(WWW), and when that window opens go to Privacy Tab and Advanced. Accept
all cookie options and click on the OK button.
Check your parental controls and make sure that you don't have any restrictions
on accessing or downloading from the Internet.
Also make sure that, if you clear your cache files on a regular basis,
you use your AOL preferences to do this. DO NOT manually delete your cache
files.
Boxerjam places a cookie on your system the first time you visit the site
and get the games. This cookie is used in the future to identify you not
only as a member of Boxerjam, but to let our game servers know that you
have downloaded and installed the games. If you delete this cookie, you
will not be recognized as a member and you will have to completely download
the game files again.
If you are using any type of popup ad stopper or spyware program, make sure that you set these to all cookies from Boxerjam.

It seems
like the whole game downloads every time I hit PLAY.
When you first select the Play option, our server checks
that you have your game files installed and that they're the most recent
ones and downloads any patches that our techs may have put up. This check
should only take a few seconds, but it may take up to a minute depending
on your connection speed.
Most download problems are caused by either your browser settings or net
lag. Depending on the speed of your connection, a full download should
take from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. If you are experiencing net lag it
may take longer, but if it appears that the download has stalled and you
don't see new files transferring, the download may have actually aborted.
Select the cancel option to stop the process.
There are several things that you should do to improve your download.
First, don't run any other programs during download, especially those
involving connection to the Internet such as surfing the web. Even programs
on your computer can slow down or stall the download process since you
are competing for the use of your computer's memory.
Before starting to download again, check your browser settings to make
sure that you have cookies enabled.
In Netscape, select Edit ... Preferences ... Advanced ... Select "Accept
all cookies"
In MSIE, select Tools ... Internet Options ... Privacy ... Default ... Apply
On AOL select Members, Preferences, WWW ... Security ... Custom Level
... be sure that "Enable" is selected for the Cookie options.
Once you're checked these setting, return to http://www.boxerjam.com .
Select the Help Desk "?" Tab. Select the Troubleshooter page
and go down to Item #3. In the text below the cookie test, select "click
here" to remove the cookie.
Once you've done this, return to the game page and select the Play option
and the download should start again.
If you continue to have a problem with the download, you may want to try
at a different time when there may not be as much traffic on the Internet.
Remember to run the cookie removal option on the Help Desk before attempting
another download.

I am
having a problem when I click on "play game". I am presented
with several options in a box: open and save. What should I do when I
come to this box?
We don't know exactly why, but for some reason, the "boxrstub"
type gets unregistered with your browser. If you see while downloading
a <gamename>play.boxr file, and if it pops up a box saying save
file, or pick app, you should choose pick app, and then select "c:\windows\system\boxrstub.exe"
as the application to open the file with. That should clear it up.
You can also change the association of the <gamename>play file.
Use Windows Explorer to find the file. Highlight the file. Then hold down
the shift key and right mouse click. You'll get a dropdown menu. Select
"Open With" and then look through the list for boxrstub. Highlight
boxrstub and then select OK. See this FAQ for more information
on how to associate a file.
The download
keeps trying to go to the floppy disk "A:" drive.
The drive location is determined by you when you first
download or by how you have your system setup to download. When you downloaded
the boxrinst.exe file, if you downloaded to a drive other than the "C:"
drive the game files are also associated with that drive.
You'll need to remove the cookie and then download and run the boxrinst.exe
file again. If you still have it, delete boxrinst.exe and be sure to empty
your recycle bin. Then go to www.boxerjam.com, select a game, and select
the "Help Tab" on the options bar across the upper part of the
screen. Select the Trouble Shooter page and go down to Item #3. In the
text below the cookie test, select "click here" to remove the
cookie.
Once you done this, return to the game page and select the play icon.
Follow the instructions for downloading and running the boxrinst.exe file.

Strike
A Match and/or Know It All don't fit on my screen. I can't talk and play
the game at the same time like before. Is there something I need to change
so the screen will fit?
The game opens a standard HTML command to auto size the
game frame but it is apparently not being recognized by your browser.
The game frame will open at the same size as the parent window that launched
it. So, if you have your parent window set pretty small, the game area
or the entire game may not display or display in an awkward position.
First try resizing your Internet window prior to playing.
If that doesn't work, try repositioning the window by "dragging"
it higher on your screen. To do this, position your cursor within the
blue title bar of the game window. Click and hold down the left mouse
button...don't let go! Now move your mouse upward to "drag"
the window higher until the entire game displays, then release the mouse
button.
If you're on AOL, you can change the AOL toolbar to text
only and hide the Windows taskbar. This will give you more room on the
screen for the game to display. Go to Keyword: Preferences and select
the "Toolbar" link. Change the setting from Text and Icons to
"Text Only". To hide the Windows taskbar, click Start.. Settings..
Taskbar and Start Menu. On the Taskbar tab, select the options "Auto-Hide
Taskbar" and "Always on Top". Be sure to click Apply/OK
so the change takes effect. Whenever you hide the taskbar, it is invisible
until you move your cursor to the bottom of the page, and then it pops
right up (without having to click). These two small changes normally will
allow enough room to view the game.
If you still can't see all of the game, then check your
display settings (Start.. Settings.. Control Panel.. Display .. Settings
tab). We recommend a display resolution setting of 800x600. If that is
your current setting, you may want to try changing it to 1024x768.
Many of our games now have resizable windows. Move your mouse pointer over any side of the game window until it turns into a double-pointed arrow. Hold your left mouse button down and the drag each side of the game window until you have the entire game and chat area displayed. Once you've done this, Windows should remember the changes and open the window in the same size each time you play.
Resizing the game window will also make the text larger since the game will display relative to the changes you make. You can also make the game full screen by clicking on the Windows full screen option in the upper right corner of the game window.
I can
connect to the game, but it's soooooo slow.
What you're experiencing is probably caused by net lag
especially if you're trying to play during heavy net traffic times. The
game seems to run slowly because the transfer of data between you and
the server is slowed down by this lag.
When you select the play option for the games, the game files are loaded
onto your system. You are actually playing the game on your computer.
Each player has the same amount of time to respond to a question or in
the case of Napoleon, to make their selection of tiles.
Connection speed doesn't affect the speed of the game. Each person has
exactly the same amount of time in which to respond to the question or
select their tiles. When you respond, it's sent to our game server, compared
to the response of the other players and then the scores and player rankings
are sent back to your computer. Net lag can affect the speed with which
your information goes to the server and the speed that the server gets
the information back to you, but it doesn't affect the actual time you
have to respond to a question.
This net lag can be what causes the delay between questions since you
must wait for your response to be received by the game server and the
new scores and rankings to be sent back to you.
But if you're having trouble with the actual typing of letters, or clicking
on answers, the problem could be caused by your system. If you're running
programs in the background, these programs are competing with the game
for your computer resources. E-mail programs that are set to look for
new messages are one type of program that can cause this problem. When
some e-mail programs connect to your e-mail server to check for mail,
that program will override all other programs running at the time. This
type of conflict can cause problems with game play.
If you're having problems with the game running slowly, try again after
rebooting your computer. This might improve your connection. Then go directly
to the game and play again. If you continue to have problems, check to
make sure that you don't have programs running in the background that
might be affecting game performance. Game files are loaded into RAM and
if there are other programs using RAM at the same time it could cause
the game to slow down.
When
typing in the answers in Out of Order, the screen goes very slow and I
can't enter a second answer until the first one has finished. Also, the
game keeps freezing.
When you type in your 3 letters, you will have to wait
until the game completes the word before entering the next one.
If you're having problems with the game running slowly, try again after
rebooting your computer. Then go directly to the game and play again.
If you continue to have problems, check to make sure that you don't have
programs running in the background that might be affecting game performance.
Game files are loaded into RAM and if there are other programs using RAM
at the same time it could cause the game to slow down.

I'm getting
a "Route32 error" message when I start the game or while I'm

Our techs need more information on what's causing your
problem. Try again after rebooting your computer and if you still get
the error message, select the details button on the message. Write down
the exact error message. It should read something like ... Route32.exe
caused an <error> in module <filename> at <register #'s>.
Then send us the information by selecting the "Contact Technical
Support" on the Help Desk page with as much detail as possible about
your system and include the error message you received.
Once we have this information, we should be able to determine where the
problem lies ... with your system or with our software.

I can't
chat and play the game without using the scroll bar to get from the top
to the bottom.
The game opens a standard HTML command to auto size the
game frame but it is apparently not being recognized by your browser.
The game frame will open at the same size as the parent window that launched
it. So, if you have your parent window set pretty large, the game window
will also be large.
First try resizing your Internet window. Also check the resolution setting
for your monitor. We recommend a setting of at least 800 x 600. You can
change the settings by selecting Start, Control Panel, Display, and select
the settings tab.
Please refer to this FAQ for more information on how
to solve this problem.

How do
I enable the chat? I tried double-clicking on my name and it does not
open a dialogue box.
First check to see if your have a line under the chat
box where you can enter your chat. Next to the line is a "send"
button. You can either click on the button or press enter to send your
comments to the room.
To be able to chat, use your mouse and click on the chat area of the screen
(or you can also use the Tab key). It will outline in red to let you know
it's the active area. Type in your comment and press enter or send. Then
click in the game area (or use the Tab key) to continue playing the game.
You'll notice that the game area is outlined in red to let you know that
it's now the active area.
If you don't have a box under the chat window for your message, the problem
you're having may be caused by the display resolution setting. You have
your resolution set at 640x480 which caused the banner ad that we display
below the game to cover the chat line but not be displayed. Our techs
recommend a resolution setting of 800x600 which should allow the entire
game and chat area to be displayed. You can change the settings by selecting
Start, Control Panel, Display, and select the settings tab. Be sure that
you select the Apply or OK button at the bottom of the screen once you've
made the change.
[Back to top] I have
tried several times during the day, but the exact same game (same questions)
keeps coming up.
Every once in a while our server will get stuck on the
same game. Once the server has been reset, the same game won't repeat.
But if you continue to have a problem, you may need to clear your cache
files. It's possible your cache files are full.
In Netscape, select Edit ... Preferences ... Advance ... Cache and clear
your memory and file caches. In MS Internet Explorer, select Tools ...
Internet Options ... General Tab ... select delete files in the Temporary
Internet Files section.
Then, click on the refresh/reload option on your browser at www.boxerjam.com
to make sure you have the most recent page loaded. Do the same for each
page that you visit especially if you a favorites or desktop link.
Most Internet browsers save every site that you visit in a cache folder

it sure is a great feature since it makes web surfing much easier. The
big drawback is that if a site is changed, you don't know it because you've

Boxerjam uses Flash for most of its puzzles and Shockwave for two. These platforms are processor intense. This means that you must be able to process the puzzle files quickly and have a lot of RAM available to do this. If you're running other programs in the background or you haven't rebooted your computer recently, your RAM resources may be low and could slow down or prevent the game from playing properly. In addition, net lag can also cause problems.
Make sure that you have the newest versions of Flash and Shockwave installed on your system. If you need to upgrade your Flash, go to http://www.macromedia.com Upgrading your Flash player may require a reboot of your computer to get the new version of the player recognized by the operating system. You can also find help for Shockwave at http://www.macromedia.com/support/shockwave/

I solve the puzzles in time and hear
the Power Puzzler sound but my name doesn't appear on the list. Why?
To be listed as a Power Puzzler you must solve
7 of the 14 puzzles without using any of the help aids such
as the "show initials" in Elvis or the "errors"
option in Crossword+. If you use any of these, you may still
hear the Power Puzzler sound when you finish within the time
allowed, but your name will not appear on the list.
You must also start and finish the puzzle in one session.
If you start a puzzle but don't complete it, then go back and complete
it a second time, only the first time you started will count.
If you solve ten of the 14 puzzles, your name will appear
in bold on the list the next day. To accommodate many time
zones, the lists are posted at approximately 5:30 a.m. EST.
When you check the list, the first page you get will be
a listing of groups of winners (alphabetically, in ranges of names). Find
the range of names where your name would appear and click on that range
and you'll find the complete list.
Make sure that you sign in before you start solving the puzzles and that
you have confirmed your membership. Only confirmed members will make the
list.

I'll
be playing a puzzle and all of a sudden it freezes and I can't continue.
Sometimes my computer actually crashes.
We know of a few problems that can cause the puzzles to
freeze up or your computer to crash. What you're experiencing may be caused
by net lag especially if you're trying to play during heavy net traffic
times. The game seems to run slowly or freeze because the transfer of
data between you and the server is slowed down by this lag and the amount
of time it takes to download various components of the puzzles. If the
server doesn't receive data from you within a given period of time, it
assumes you've disconnected and no longer sends you information. This
can result in some unusual problems and error messages.
However, if you see a gray screen after the initial clue
screen, you may want to wait up to 30 seconds to see if the puzzle loads.
If you're on AOL, the AOL sounds, such as "You've got mail",
and Buddy List sounds may cause problems. You can turn the sounds off
on your Buddy List (My AOL, Buddy List, Preferences, or if your Buddy
List is open, Buddy List Setup), and leave an unread e-mail in your mailbox.
We don't know of any way to stop the Instant Messages.

I'm using Netscape 6.x, 7.x or Mozilla
and am having trouble with your games
You can play Take 5 and Napoleon with these browsers. To play these games, you need
to upgrade your version of Java:
1. Go to http://java.sun.com/getjava/download.html
and follow the instructions.
2. When asked during the installation which browsers Java Plug-in should
be the default Java runtime for, be sure to select all browsers (except
Internet Explorer) you currently use to play Boxerjam games.
3. Open your browser and play. There are still a few glitches with the
puzzles when running Sun's Java, but we are working on these.
Unfortunately, until the Flash plug-in is rewritten for these browsers
you cannot play our Flash games in Netscape 6.x or Mozilla. If you want
to play the Flash games, you might want to consider using Microsoft's
Internet Explorer. If you don't have it, you can download it at http://www.microsoft.com.

I have
upgraded my Flash Player, and I am still getting told to upgrade.
Upgrading your Flash player may require a reboot of your
computer to get the new version of the Flash player recognized by the
operating system. If you have upgraded your Flash player, rebooted your
computer, and are still having troubles, we suggest that you try uninstalling
you Flash player. You should then install the latest version of the Flash
player. You may be able to auto install the latest version of the Flash
player by starting one of our Flash games. To uninstall the Flash Player
click
here and download the Macromedia uninstall tool or follow the manual
instructions from Macromedia on how to uninstall the Flash player.

People
are cheating by playing games over and over.
Players who play the games frequently will sometimes get
repeats of games, and this is not considered cheating, as
long as the player is not using multiple player names to play
a game episode, and then play the same episode with another
player name to register a high score. Members can play the
rerun games as many times as they wish to, as long as they
are not using more than one player name.
We release new game episodes (or "shows") for each
of the following games two to three times a week:
Strike A Match and SAM:
Monday, Wednesday, Sunday - 10 - 10:15 pm Eastern
OOO:
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday - 10 - 10:15 PM Eastern
Take5:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Sunday - 10:30 - 10:45 PM Eastern
KIA:
Monday, Thursday, Friday - 10:30 - 10:45 PM Eastern
Mindstein:
Thursday - 12:00 AM (Midnight) Eastern
The new games repeat during the 15-minute time period giving
everyone a chance for good competition against others playing
the game for the first time.

My name's
not on the high score list. How come?
Here are the requirements for getting on a high scores
list:
- you win your game
- it's your first game of the day (midnight to midnight
EST)
- you are a member and have signed in
- you have confirmed your membership (by e-mail)
If you start a game and then leave, that game will be
counted as your first game of the day. You have to start and complete
your first game of the day.
The high score list is updated at midnight so if you win
your first game, your name should appear on the list the following day.
If you have met the above requirements but are still not
appearing on the list, there is another possible reason. All of our single
player games use Flash. The game is downloaded to your computer while
you are playing. When the game ends, your score is uploaded to our game
server. It is possible for you to be disconnected from our game server
during the game, and not know it, yet still keep playing, so that at the
end of the game your score isn't uploaded to the game server.
There are a couple of reasons why you might experience
this disconnect problem. One can be caused by the version of Flash that
you're using. Be sure that you're using the newest version of Flash. The
other reason can be net lag especially if you're trying to play during
heavy net traffic times. If our game server doesn't receive data from
you within a given period of time, it assumes you've disconnected from
the game.
We are in the process of updating all our games as well as how the high scores are displayed. For those games that have been updated, the high score list is updated many times a day for each game. The list contains todays scores. Getting the highest score in a specific game does not guarantee the score will make the list. Check the heading for the high scores list to determine the difference. If you click on the "see more scores" the heading will display the date and the time that the list was updated. The old system will list the previous day's date.
A new high score can take up to 20 minutes to show up on the high score list for a game. A players name will only appear in a Games High Score list once. If you play multiple times only your best score will be listed. It does not matter if it was the first game you played for the day, or the most recent game you played, we always list the best score. This way you can keep playing to try and better your score without worry of lowering your score on the list.
[Back to top] Why can't
I change an answer in Strike A Match? I clicked on one by mistake and
would like to be able to unclick my answer.
We did, at one time, consider the ability to "unclick".
Unfortunately, with that feature players could just click and unclick
until they found the right match. They wouldn't have to even know the
answer to earn points. That sure wouldn't be fair to the other players
in the game.
The only solution is to be just a tiny bit slower and a bit more careful
when you make your selections.
Am I
really playing against other people?
Yes! Instead of just trying to set the high scores, these
gameshows are some of the only ones online that allow you to compete head-to-head
against other contestants in real time. Bring a friend! You can also chat
with these other people during the game. So say hello to everyone!

How does
the scoring work for Strike A Match?
Here's how the scoring works for
Strike A Match.
round 1 - 20 questions - max pts. per question - 250
round 2 - 1 question - max pts. Per question - 750
round 3 - 20 questions - max pts. Per question - 500
round 4 - 1 question - max pts. Per question - 1500
1. Points are computed based on the time at which the
player makes the first selection.
2. Points lost in case of a wrong/incomplete answer is 1/2 of what
would have been gained, had the answer been correct.
3. All times based on player's clock value displayed (in sec)
* The Number before the ":" is the time value on the player's
screen clock.
Round 1
-------
>=5 : 250pts
<5 : 150
Round 2
-------
>=20 : 750pts
>=15 : 650
>=10 : 550
>=5 : 450
<5 : 350
Round 3
-------
>=16 : 500pts
>=12 : 450
>=8 : 400
>=4 : 350
<4 : 300
Round 4
-------
>=25 : 1500pts
>=20 : 1350
>=15 : 1200
>=10 : 1050
>=5 : 900
<5 : 750
A perfect score is 17250.
The scoring for the new SAM version is based on the time it takes for you to answer each question. The timer begins as soon as you see the choices and stops as soon as you make your selection.
[Back to top] Why don't
I get credit in Out of Order for the words that I unscramble in Round
4?
Out of Order is like a TV game show where each round is
more difficult than the one before. Round 4 is the most difficult. You
don't have to solve the scrambled words in order, but you have to solve
the entire quote before time runs out. When you play this round, look
for the words that you can solve right away. Sometimes that helps you
figure out the other words. But it is an all or nothing round. If you
don't finish the quote in time you will lose points.
What
is this "net lag" that you keep referring to?
Net lag results most often from high traffic on the "Internet
super highway". When you connect to a website you may go through
8 or 10 different computers and each time you log on, a lot of them may
be different. If any one of these locations isn't operating properly or
is experiencing heavy traffic, you may end up in a "traffic jam"
that can slow down data transfer.
This doesn't affect your connection to your Internet Service Provider
nor does it affect our connection to our ISP, but it does affect the transfer
of data from you to us and back again. Anywhere between you and our server,
data can be slowed down or even lost and when this happens, our game server
thinks you are no longer playing.
In the gameshow games, you are playing against as many as 8 other people all connecting
through the Internet, we have to limit the amount of time it takes for
each player to receive and respond. If we didn't, the game would run at
the speed of the connection of the slowest player which could slow the
game down so much that it might become impossible to play.
All of our single player games use Flash. The game is downloaded to your computer while you're playing. If you are encountering net lag the game may take longer to load than usual or may not download properly.
We hope this helps you better understand what happens when you have difficulty
connecting to our site and better explain why you receive error and disconnect
messages while playing Boxerjam games.
[Back to top] I read
that your site requires JavaScript. How do I enable JavaScript in my browser?
To enable JavaScript in Microsoft Internet Explorer go
to: [Tools], [Internet Options], [Security] and make sure that the Internet
zone is set to the Medium security level or lower.
To enable JavaScript in Netscape Navigator
go to [Edit], [Preferences], [Advanced] and make
sure that "Enable JavaScript" and "Enable Java" are
checked.

How do
I report someone for using obscene language?
In Napoleon, Take5, and the older C++ versions of SAM, our programmers have installed a feature that provides a means for players to deal with this in the same way as they can now in regular, public chat rooms through Ignore. If you click on the offending player's name in the list of players, you'll receive a window that allows you to ignore that player. The rest of the players can chat without seeing anything that is sent by the person on ignore. If you're playing the Flash versions of our games, you can only select the ignore chat option.
If this should happen again, highlight the chat and then copy it ... you
can copy by right clicking your mouse after highlighting the chat and
selecting copy ... Then send it to us by selecting the "Contact Technical
Support" on the Help Desk page and pasting it in the message area.
Be sure that you include the time and date as well.
We must have proof so please, in the future, copy and paste the chat with
the date and time and send it to us.
We're really sorry that you've had this happen in our game. It's rare,
but it does happen and you have the right not to be exposed to this kind
of behavior. Our games are designed for the whole family to enjoy and
we don't like or condone this type of behavior.

How does
the bonus round work in Napoleon? I can't figure it out.
The Bonus rounds give you an opportunity to improve one
of the previous rounds. Let's say that you had 4 tens in previous play.
If you get 4 twenty-fives in the Bonus round, you can replace the 4 tens.
But anything you get in a bonus round has to be better than what you previously
had. If you look at the list of your previous rounds, any one that can
be replaced will be highlighted. If you don't have a better round than
any previous one, there will be no selections available to you.
The score for the old hand is deducted and the score for the new hand
is added. So, in our previous example, 40 (4 tens) would be subtracted
and 100 (4 twenty-fives) would be added. Your score would improve by 60
points.

I tied
with another player but they were congratulated and I wasn't. Does that
mean that I'm not a winner and not eligible for the prize?
No matter how many tie for first place, all are considered
winners. Our "harvesting" software gathers the names at the
end of the final round and considers all tie scores as winners. The Congrats
screen congratulates the player who enters the game and scores the win
first.
Congratulations on your win and good luck in your future matches.
I keep
pressing the number of who said the round 4 quote in Out of Order but
it won't take my choice.
You're trying to type in the number too soon. Before each
round notice that there's a screen explaining what you need to do for
the next round. The same is true for the final question. You're trying
to enter your number at the instruction screen. Wait until the next screen
comes up with the 3 choices listed and then enter your number.

Why do
I have to sign in (or verify my password) so often?
For security reasons, and to protect your
privacy and account information we now require players to
verify their password every 2 hours, regardless of whether
they have been active on the web site or not.
What
if I don't like my member name? Can I change it?
There is a restriction of one member name per e-mail address.
You can notify customer service and they will tell you how to go about
changing your name. Contact customerservice@boxerjam.com
and you'll be instructed on how to go about this procedure.

I can't get an acceptable member name.
What should I do?
First, remember the following restrictions for choosing
member names:
Must begin with a letter.
Must contain only unaccented letters and numbers.
Must be 3 to 16 characters in length.
Must not contain any special characters such as + or & or -, etc.
Must not contain inappropriate words or phrases (profanity, etc).
Also, use these helpful tips to create a unique, personalized member name:
Longer member names (11 to 16 characters) are likely to be available.
Make up an unusual phrase or word.
Include information relating to your favorite hobby or sport.
Combine several of these tips to create your own personalized member name.
When you've created your new Screen Name, be sure to write it down and
keep it handy until you've memorized it.

I signed in, but when I select Play,
I’m told to sign again.
There are several things that could be causing this.
Make sure that you have cookies enabled. When you register
or sign in a cookie is set with your member name. If you have "no
cookies"set in your preferences, your registered user name won't
appear.
Check your preference settings for how cookies are handled
and make sure that you have it set to "accept all cookies":
In Netscape, select Edit ... Preferences ... Advanced
... Select "Accept all cookies"
In MSIE, select Tools... Options ... Advanced ... be sure
that "Warn before accepting cookies" is NOT CHECKED. In MSIE
6.0 and higher ... Select the Privacy Tab and set to Enable all cookies.
Be sure you click on the Apply and OK buttons before closing the Options
window.
Also make sure that if you clear your cookies, you keep
the Boxerjam cookies that are on your system.
If you've been using a favorites or desktop link to access
the games or puzzles, the page is saved exactly as you set it at the time
and is not updated. Delete your favorites or desktop links to Boxerjam.
Use the full Boxerjam URL: http://www.boxerjam.com.
If you still have difficulty, it's possible your cache
files are full. Most Internet browsers save elements from every site that
you visit in a cache folder so that the next time you visit the site it
will load much faster. And it sure is a great feature since it makes web
surfing much easier. The big drawback is that if a site is changed, you
don't know it because you've loaded the saved page from your cache and
not from the actual site.
When things don't seem to be working correctly at a website,
select that refresh/reload option to make sure you are seeing the newest
page. The best way to force your browser to load the newest pages is to
hold down the "Ctrl" key and then hit the refresh/reload button
in your browser.
Also, emptying the cache file periodically will get rid
of old pages so that if you return to a site, the newest page will load.
To empty your cache files:
- Go to a page other than boxerjam.com.
- Tools -> Internet Options -> Temporary Internet
Files ->Delete Files
- Clear History Files -> Apply -> OK
- CLOSE ALL BROWSER WINDOWS (and AOL)
- Start IE (AOL) again and come back to the site.

I have a new e-mail address. How do
I change my Boxerjam information?
You can make this change in your Boxerjam profile. Sign
in with your Boxerjam member name. Select the "My Boxerjam"
Tab at the top of the Boxerjam home page, then click the "View My
Profile" link. Make any changes necessary and be sure to click on

How do I unsubscribe from the Boxerjam
e-mails that I receive?
You may be a member of both Boxerjam and Boxerjam/SkillJam.
Some of the e-mails you are receiving are generated by SkillJam and are
only associated with the SkillJam games. If you continue to have a problem
using the unsubscribe option that appears on the bottom of each e-mail,
it is because you aren't signed in and don't have cookies enabled. The
"click here" option to unsubscribe will only work if you have
your cookies enabled and are signed in at the Boxerjam homepage.
You can also unsubscribe to Boxerjam e-mails by going
to the Boxerjam homepage, sign in with your member name and
password, click on the My Boxerjam tab and select the Customize
My Boxerjam Mail option.

I can't start my game from the E-Mail
If you're unable to click through on the link, you can copy and paste it into your Browser or (for AOL members) AOL address line.
To copy and paste ... First you'll need to highlight the entire URL ... place your cursor at the beginning of the URL ... hold down your left mouse button and drag over the entire URL to highlight it. Once you've done that, right click and select the copy option from the drop down menu. Then place your cursor in the browser address line and again right click and select paste from the drop down menu. The entire URL should appear in the address line.
However, if the URL is more than one line, you may need to copy the second line again and append it to the first line in your browser address line.
You can also access the game by going to the Boxerjam website at http://www.boxerjam.com Sign in with your member name and password (make sure that you have cookies enabled), then select the My Boxerjam option that appears on the red navbar across the upper part of the page. Select the My JinkyPop and the current game should appear there with a Play button that you can use to get to the game.
I keep getting a penalty. Why?
The penalty is given when you refresh the JinkyPop game page when you're playing your turn. This is because it lets you chose a different set of letters after you have already seen many of them. The penalty does not carry over to a new game, but if you use your browser refresh option on the first game, you will get a penalty.
Why does noname appear when I start a new game with a friend?
When a player challenges someone to a game of JinkyPop using an email address the game waits for the opponent to verify that:
a) They want to play as their assumed player name (The one the site detects when they go to Boxerjam).
b) They want to play using that email address.
For the "noname" to disappear the opponent needs to simple play their turn and it will be updated to their username.
There are hardly any letters in my final round. Why?
The letters that appear in the Final round of JinkyPop are the letters that are left over and placed into the letter bank at the bottom of the game for each round. So if each player maximizes each word for each round and leaves no or very few letters in the letter bank there will be no or very few letters in the Final Round.
